Beneficiaries

If your organization would like to be considered for a grant from the Long Island 2 Day Walk To Fight Breast Cancer please email us at: info@li2daywalk.org or call (631) 863-2DAY. In keeping with our mission statement, careful consideration will be given to all applicants. However, consistent with our corporate charter and by-laws, inclusion as a beneficiary of the Walk is solely at the discretion of the Board of Directors. In 2008 our 5th Annual Walk raised over $500,000 for our beneficiary organizations.

In 2008, each of the beneficiary organizations below received a grant in the amount of $31,500:

• Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
• Cure Mommy's Breast Cancer
• Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition
• ISLIP Breast Cancer Coalition
• Manhasset Women's Coalition Against Breast Cancer
• North Shore Neighbors Breast Cancer Coalition
• South Fork Breast Health Coalition
• South Nassau Communities Hospital
• WALK for Women's Breast Cancer Fund
• West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition for Long Island Inc.

2008 Special Grant Receipients:

The following organizations each received a special grant in the amount of $2,500:

• The Witness Project
• Freinds For Life Foundation
• Sisters of Greater Long Island

The following initiative received a special grant in the amount of $1,000:

• The Breast Cancer Initiative Fund (Dr. Karen Kostroff -North Shore LIJ Health System)

LI2DAY Scholarship Division:

In 2008 the following scholarship received funding in the amount of $15,000:
This brings the 4 year total to $60,000 in local scholarships awarded.

• The Long Island 2 Day Walk To Fight Breast Cancer Scholarship Fund
  (6 Scholarships of $2,500 each are awarded annually.)
